Who we’re looking for:

·       A cutting-edge PPC marketer who loves the tech-side of automation; using data to make better decisions (audiences, bidding, feeds, etc.).

·       Someone who likes scale – and aspires to scale further. Someone who can unpick data to make the right decisions for the business.

·       Someone who thinks about the customer journey from ad to landing page to booking flow – and ensures other teams are helping to optimise the whole flow.

·       A great manager & role model.

·       A clear, concise communicator to different audiences, with different levels of understanding.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy

The Senior Manager PPC will own the PPC strategy, collaborating & agreeing with the wider team.

-        Completely on top of the short-term levers that will drive performance

-        Strong 3-month roadmap for large & medium strategic initiatives

-        Rough idea of what’s happening in >3 months

-        Able to communicate the main levers/initiatives to a non-PPC audience

Marketing leadership

The Senior Manager PPC is the leader for one of Trainline’s largest & most scalable digital marketing channels. As such, leadership is vital:

-        Attending & contributing to Financial / Commercial / Data & Analytics conversations & meetings

-        Supporting and directing the team

-        Strong communication, verbally (incl. presentations) & online, with stakeholders from all areas & levels of the business

-        A vision for the continued growth of the channel + driving efficiency to support business economics

-        Go-to subject matter expert for anyone in the business

-        Able to contribute to strategic / budget / commercial discussions that may not only focus on PPC as a channel

-        Ability to get hands on if required

Managing

The Senior Manager PPC will manage a team of 3-4 PPC experts and will be responsible for ensuring (as is the case with all Managers at Trainline):

-        The team has the capacity, support and time to drive growth and performance uplift

-        The team has the support to professionally develop and flourish at Trainline

-        Team members have a job that is stimulating and can/will push them

-        Support in where to focus – prioritisation

Data/Analysis/Automation

The Senior Manager is highly analytical with a demonstrable understanding of data manipulation and, vitally, producing insights/actions from large data sets.

-        Forecasting performance / spend (yield curves)

-        Ad hoc analyses/diagnoses to ensure the channel is performing at its best

-        Tracking & reporting spend & performance

-        Automation – understands the importance of automation and has experience in creating custom solutions to scale easier, monitor & react quicker & take full advantage of rich data sources within PPC

Knowledge & Experience

-Subject matter expertise – able to demonstrate this with various examples of best-in-class & advanced strategies/knowledge + associated impacts. For example: advanced audience strategy (e.g. working with Data Science to create custom audience segments), advanced bidding (e.g. passing back margin data to bidding tools), etc.

-Proven track record of leading a team to drive growth & efficiency through PPC campaigns with multi-million£ budgets

-Able to provide multiple examples of advanced strategies that have driven material improvements in either volume or efficiency

-Highly proficient in relevant software/skills:

- Excel & wider Office suite

-        Google Ads / Editor / +Bing equivalents

-        GA

-        Good understanding of tagging/tracking & tag management systems (e.g. GTM)

-        SA360 preferred (equivalent bid tech acceptable)

-        [desirable but not required] paid search experience on Baidu

-Very good understanding of & experience working with other channels; SEO, CRM, Display, Paid Social, Affiliates

-Experience and evidence of successfully expanding into & growing new territories
